So Small Our Complex Lives

New poem!

Spun Stardust

All the simplest things in life
The things we want the things we need
Beauty in the horror and the greed and the arrogance
Of the human race
We who think that what we could have must hold sway
Over all the inexplicable grandeur
Of this incredible planet around us
And the stars like dust glittering in the night sky
Constant and countless
And us as tiny specs beside them
So small as to be undetectable.
